In the last few hot yet beautiful days in St. George UT, there was an expo for local families to see the numerous options that will enhance or even replace their current form of education.
This is the Utah Fits All K-12 Public Scholarship.
What is a K-12 Scholarship? It is a set of funds that qualified families can use on their child’s K-12 education.
Some scholarships are provided through private charities while others are state funded. Utah Fits All (UFA) is a new, state funded K-12 scholarship.
Parents in St. George met summer camps, tutors, homeschool curriculums, and private schools that are now accessible to them.
When parents saw a service that was a great fit for their individual needs, they would hire that company or school directly. The payment is then pulled from their classwallet/UFA account to pay for the support.
It will be interesting to follow the outcomes when a parent’s own tax dollars are more directly channeled by them for their best interest.
It is my current prediction that school choice will expand as more Americans decide to excercise their right to teach their child as they deem best.
